Funding is the periodic payment between perp longs and shorts (settled every 8h). Positive funding means longs pay shorts — a sign of crowded longs; negative means shorts pay longs. The long/short bar shows the share of retail accounts positioned each way. Extreme crowding often precedes squeezes.
